"Photos of La Nuit Blanche by Tom Regan"

Dear Parler Paris Reader,

Today is the last day of the three-week adventure in the U.S. traveling to six cities, getting a taste of life in the U.S. from the east to the west coasts. By tomorrow I'll be back in Paris with a new set of Parisian adventures on which to report.

While in the States, I've missed out on a few special events in Paris -- first, "Les Journées Européennes du Patrimoine" (European Heritage Days) two weekends ago and last night, "La Nuit Blanche" (Sleepless Night -- an annual all-night arts festival). These are two of my favorite public events, so missing out is irreparable, save for the fine photos taken by Tom Regan and his report on the 'sleepless' evening:

"I walked around my 'hood' (Le Marais) with my small 'point and shoot' beginning by crossing the bridge, Pont Marie. It ended about an hour later in the courtyard entry to my apartment. There were crowds of people out enjoying the cafés and viewing the artistic light installations. The weather was cool, dry and calm -- a perfect evening for this event."

When I last wrote, Los Angeles had reported record breaking heat which cooled the next day, in time for the speaking engagement at "Fraiche." In Thursday's French Property Insider, there is a full report on the evening at Fraiche as well as an informal dinner gathering of the owners of "Le Palace des Vosges", the fractional ownership property in the Place des Vosges, held at the apartment of one of the owners in Los Angeles.

By coincidence, all of the current five owners live in Southern California. We had such a fun time together, that the group recorded a video/testimonial to kick off the special price promotion of the shares we are currently making available to our readers. Read all about the adventures in Thursday's FPI: adrianleeds.com/frenchproperty/insider and be sure to scroll down see today's P.S.

Friday, we celebrated Erica's 25th birthday with friends on the terrace among the palms at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel, one of L.A.'s classiest spots. For a complete and final day in L.A., we then headed west to get a taste of one of L.A.'s least classiest spots -- Venice Beach. It was a contrast in terms and in every respect of the word! Surrounded by celebrities dripping in designer clothing and expensive jewelry at the Polo Lounge, at Venice Beach we were surrounded by hoards of homeless, street vendors, tourists and police...all colorful to say the least...and all very much in the spirit of L.A.!

Saying "bye-bye to La La Land," that evening we took the 'Red Eye' to New York, landing at JFK airport at sunrise Saturday to witness a glistening cityscape and a beautiful, bright, sunny warm day. We lunched outdoors, strolled past a street festival in the West Village, almost got run over by two little giggling girls in a 'Cadillac' driving illegally on the sidewalk and took in the sights and sounds at a very busy Washington Square Park before preparing for Erica's birthday party at "Lucky Cheng's Drag Cabaret Dinner Theater".

She invited her closest friends to see the drag show with her -- something most of us had not done before and we had no idea what might be in store. The Drag Queens were tall, gorgeous, outlandishly clad, talented and funny. (We real women should look so good!) The audience was made up of mostly young women -- bachelorette parties and the like. Erica's group of friends was a 'mixed bag' of men and women of all ages, me being the oldest among them.

We weren't prepared for audience participation, but there was no getting out of it. The four birthday girls in the room were asked to come up on stage and choose a partner. Wouldn't you know it, my daughter chose me. Yikes! Our task, believe it or not, was to compete in a contest -- to perform a 'lap dance' for each other right there on the stage!

Yes, you read it right. There I was with my own 25 year-old daughter, having to put on a 'show' for a hundred people or so and to compete with three other couples in a lap dance contest! This is when one might say, "only in New York!"...and it was certainly one of the strangest things we have ever done together...but, we rose to the occasion and not only did we get lots of laughs, cheers and applauds, but we managed to win the contest, too! (I apologize for not having any photos as proof, since it all happened too quickly and no one thought to take pictures for us!)

What a way to celebrate a quarter of a century! It will never be forgotten, that's for sure.

To end the 21-day journey, I 'pigged out' on a real American bacon burger and fries at "The Corner Bistrot" at the corner of W. 4th and Jane Street, plus one last celebration was had at "French Roast" on 6th Avenue Sunday evening with friends and family living in New York. The group included two people who own apartments in Paris we found for them years ago -- one of which we represent on Parler Paris Apartments, "Le Balcon Planté" .

New York is still New York and Paris is still Paris, thank goodness. And thank goodness I am fortunate to have them both, along with L.A., San Francisco, Seattle, Portland and even Las Vegas in my life to add variety and spice into a life I love living.

A la prochaine...from Gay Paree...
