Paris, France

Dear Parler Paris Reader,

Last week this little cardboard mailer appeared in the mailbox with no visible sender other than "Panty by Post" on the return address. At first I thought it was a surprise from a sweetheart, but sheepishly he admitted not.

Inside the little folded envelope was a pair of green satiny panties with black ribbon lacing them up each side -- very feminine and pretty. What a nice surprise...no matter who had sent them!

Leave it to Karen Henrich, founder of Chic Walks and Nuit Blanche Tours to think of 'exposing' the new Vancouver-based company by posting a few panties. She surprises us with the fact that "half of their customers are from Paris and France!"

"I think it's because, of course, French women wear lingerie like a staple (unlike North Americans who wear it for a special occasion), but as you know, good lingerie is so pricey in France! So, I think the French women want their lovely lingerie, without the big price tag attached. And of course, the romance of receiving a delicious surprise in the mail :-). For any Expats who have visited France (or live there part-time), they can continue to get their French romance 'fix' with this service."

This isn't just a one-off purchase for many of their customers, who subscribe to "A Panty of the Month Club!" Wouldn't you simply love to have a little surprise in your mailbox every month so that yes, even you can "make the postman blush?!"

Gentleman, take note. Change the way North Americans think about lingerie. Put aside the flowers and the chocolates. Just go online to pantybypost.com, set up a monthly surprise, and watch your love life improve instantly! (Even though 'he' hadn't sent them, rest assured they did not go unnoticed!)

In a recent study published on tripadvisor.com of more than 2,700 travelers, British tourists were judged to be the worst dressed in Europe, ahead of the Germans, and that the French were best dressed, along with the Italians and Spanish who were considered the most elegant.

Also as part of the study, Paris was considered the "Most Over-Rated," the "Least Friendly" and having the "Best Cuisine." (Read the results at tripadvisor.co.uk)

Americans were not included in this survey. After seeing "Sex in the City 2" last night amid a filled theater, I wondered how they would have faired. The film was every bit as bad as expected to be, if not more so. Within the first few moments, it went from bad taste to outright offensive. As a film that is designed to be a showcase for women's fashion, let's hope none of it actually lands on the streets of Paris! Let's also hope the example of these four women of the worst kind of behavior in someone else's land doesn't become a trend for future Americans traveling here.

Go see it, but be warned! sexandthecitymovie.com

The Paris Office du Tourisme is currently showcasing the women who have made a difference to the Capital...the women chefs who are part of the reason for it being voted as having the "Best Cuisine," along with the women hotel managers, bloggers and fitness experts who have added the feminine "touch" to the City of Light.

American Woman Director, Madeleine Barchevska and BioArt Theatre Laboratories presents...

"ACTION" by Sam Shepard --

"It is a sterling success in that it very craftily conjures up questions, thoughts, and feelings about this whole notion of activity - its place, its presence (or lack of), its handling by characters in staged theater. It is less than successful in that it clouds and diminishes the very images and effects it aims to create by virtue of its tendency to go nowhere. In Action, the audience views/experiences two men and two women responding to events and situations people deal with in everyday life. Some of this activity is trite, almost stale; some of it is anything but. Shepard's familiar use of image, momentum, nowness, shock and disconnectedness are all present and very well accounted for."
